Miami Condos Look for Solutions to Parking Shortage

The increased development of Miami condos has greatly contributed to the shortage of parking. Hundreds of units built on a small amount of land without proper planning of residential parking can be disastrous to neighborhoods.

Skyrocketing real estate prices are forcing more family members to squeeze into Miami condos and small homes. As families make room for more people, garages are the first thing to go when building additions to homes that are already squeezed onto tiny lots. Some neighborhood activists want to see an end to all of this crowding and are demanding that local government “get tough, especially against illegal apartments carved out of single-family homes that force tenants to park on already clogged streets.”

In order to keep the peace and to keep neighbors from fighting over parking space, developers have been urged to provide more parking spots per home. Other suggestions have included the building of public parking lots and valet parking at Miami condos.
