Five Tips for Keeping Your Miami Home Safe

Moving into a new Miami home is a very tiring and stressful process, but with all of the things to remember, home safety should be at the top of the list.

Accroding to TNS of New York, less than half of Americans have the tools or plans necessary to cope with an emergency in their homes. The following is a list of the most important things to do in order to protect your family and make your Miami home as safe as possible:

1. Install smoke detectors on every floor of your Miami home. Test them monthly and change their batteries twice a year.

2. “Form an evacuation plan with your family in case of fire or disaster.”

3. Keep an accessible first aid kit and fire extinguisher in your Miami home and another medical kit in your car.

4. Change the air conditioner and heater filters quarterly. “This will reduce the allergens and dust” in your Miami home.

5. Place non-slip mats under rugs and in the shower.
