Miami Home Owners Scamming Disaster Relief Agency?

Miami home owners collected millions of dollars in Federal Emergency Management Agency funds last year - in spite of the fact that the hurricane in question swept 100 miles north of this Florida city.

An investigation into the distribution of funds from the agency has found that many claims from 2004 for damage related to Hurricane Frances were fraudulent. While Miami home owners have collected assistance legitimately in connection with past tropical storms, it is important that this disaster relief money is distributed fairly so that people in need are able to get the assistance they require.
